Award winning garden design. It has been featured in a number of garden magazines and on Top Billing “Secret Gardens of Franschhoek” and has been used for 4 years running to raise money for Charity in the annual Franschhoek Garden Festival. They're an orchid greenhouse to house a large collection of orchids which bloom from September to January each year. The soil is good quality fine black soil comprising of silt down for 2 meters with no river stones making the garden very easy to plant, trench and plant trees.
Vines. There are 800 vines producing 4,000 bottles of Merlot. They blend 10% to 20% Cabernet Sauvignon into their wine. The vines are 15 years old and producing a world class wine.
They have vintages dating back to 2009 and employ a celebrity wine maker to produce 2 Oak barrels for us or 600 bottles per year and give them the balance of the harvest for their own production.
Lynx wine used their Merlot in their delicious dry Rose last year.
Olive grove. There 150 Olive trees which are 20 years old (5 years old when planted). They comprise 90% Mission Olives which is a table olive and olive for olive oil and 10% Frantoia which is blended for olive oil. They make their own table olives and Extra Virgin Olive oil. The olive press used is located 1 km from the House.
It is also possible to build one further home under “consent use”. A planning application has been submitted to the Stellenbosch Municipality for this application to build this home in the olive grove for a further luxury 2 bed villa.
